The Nightly Bazaar in JB town: Pasar Karat

Looking forward to a pleasant browse for a new cover for your mobile phone or an antique? At a loose end after 9pm? Take a drive into town, park off Jalan Wong Ah Fook, in Little India or in one of the nearby lanes. The spread of goods has variety, and the atmosphere is quite festive.

Take a look at some google images to get an idea of the sights and stalls, which you can see will involve some walking: https://www.google.com/search?q=pasar+karat+jb&client=gmail&rls=gm&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=v8bvUqfGF4Oxrgey94CgAg&ved=0CC8QsAQ&biw=1794&bih=840

Drink stalls are around, as well as snack stalls; food is on sale at the small restaurants in the vicinity. Plenty of people stroll around, even with children at that late hour. New and secondhand/reconditioned goods are available. The stallholders are charged RM5 a night, which is ok to make a profit, so even they are cheery.

Pasar Karat (karat means rust actually) does not have a bad reputation for crime, but nonetheless dress down and hang on to your bag and wallet.

Definitely worth a visit on a cool night.
